How to Disable Quick Note in macOS Sonoma

Introduction

Do you know that little white field that always slides in from the bottom right of your Mac screen when your mouse cursor goes to the corner? That's the "Quick Note" feature. While well-intentioned, for many users it's become more of a "nuisance of the week" than a helpful feature.

Setting Quick Note in Hot Corners

Fortunately, you can configure whether and how this Quick Note feature is triggered in your Mac's System Settings. If you want to disable it, here's how to access the "Hot Corners" section:

  1. Open System Settings
  2. Go to the "Desktop & Dock" section
  3. Scroll all the way down and click on the "Hot Corners" button
  4. Now you can set the bottom right area to the dash (no action)

This will prevent Quick Note from being triggered when you move your mouse cursor to the bottom right of the desktop.

Using Hot Corners Effectively

If you decide to make good use of Hot Corners in macOS after all, I'd recommend using the bottom left corner as a trigger. Your mouse cursor rarely wanders there accidentally, so you won't trigger unwanted actions.

Here's an overview of all possible actions you can set:

  • Mission Control: Provides a bird's-eye view of open windows.
  • Application Windows: Shows all open windows of a specific application.
  • Desktop: Hides all open windows so you can see what's on your desktop.
  • Notification Center: Shows the Notification Center, which contains widgets for top stories, weather, and more.
  • Launchpad: Displays all applications in Launchpad.
  • Start Screen Saver: Starts the screen saver.
  • Disable Screen Saver: Disables the screen saver.
  • Put Display to Sleep: Puts the computer to sleep.
  • Lock Screen: Locks the screen.

If you don't want to perform any action, set it to the dash.
