Caution with Water Damage
Caution with water damage! Many well-intentioned tips from the internet can do more harm than good. Here we explain what you should NOT do with water damage to your MacBook.
The Biggest Mistakes with Water Damage:
1. Putting MacBook in rice - The rice myth persists but is dangerous. Rice dust can get into the ventilation slots and cause additional damage.
2. Drying with a hair dryer - The heat can damage sensitive components on the logic board and melt solder joints.
3. Turning on immediately - "Let's see if it still works" is the worst mistake! Electricity + moisture = short circuit and total damage.
4. Waiting - The longer you wait, the more corrosion develops. This eats through the board and destroys more and more components.
What You Should Do Instead:
- Turn off immediately and disconnect power adapter
- Turn MacBook over and let it drain
- Do NOT open yourself (warranty void)
- Get professional water damage repair as quickly as possible
So never attempt measures on the MacBook yourself. But always quickly disconnect the power adapter and (if possible) disconnect the battery from the logic board. Our technicians have the right tools and cleaning agents for professional treatment.

Irreparable Water Damage

Unfortunately Wine
A few days ago we had a customer who had spilled wine on her computer. In such a situation, you should just stay calm.
Disconnect the Mac from power. Pull out the power adapter immediately and contact an expert.
But our dear customer took an extremely bold measure: She had covered the computer's keyboard with salt so that the device would dry quickly. Although the woman's boldness is to be praised, the computer's motherboard oxidized during this process and unfortunately nothing could be saved.
Don't Take Your Own Measures
So never attempt measures on the MacBook yourself. But always quickly disconnect the power adapter and (if possible) disconnect the battery from the logic board. Our technicians tried to get the device running but failed. Give us and your Mac a real chance and come to us quickly.
